ASSOCIATE, EQUITY RESEARCH ANALYST

Job Summary: First Quadrant in Pasadena seeks an Equity Research Analyst. Will independently research, analyze and model quantitative research topics relevant to stock selection and portfolio mgmt; perform statistical/economic research; translate fundamental ideas into investment models; interpret and present research results; provide other research and support as needed. Requirements include: Advanced degree in finance, economics, or data science; familiarity with time series analysis, factor analysis, machine learning; knowledge of Python/Pandas.

Responsibilities
  • Independently research, analyze and model quantitative research topics relevant to stock selection and portfolio management
  • Perform statistical and economic research using financial data to improve existing investment strategies and develop new ones, in collaboration with the investment team
  • Translate fundamental ideas into investment models
  • Recommend and implement investment models
  • Discuss research findings with the rest of the investment team
  • Interpret and present the research results to an audience with varied backgrounds
  • Monitor existing portfolio holdings
  • Provide other research and organizational support as needed
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in finance, economics, or data science
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete high-level, investments related research
  • Familiarity with time series analysis, factor analysis, machine learning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Python/Pandas
 

ASSOCIATE, SENIOR INVESTMENT ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary: First Quadrant in Pasadena seeks a Senior Investment Accountant. Will provide accurate reporting to clients including reconciling accounts and preparation of customized reports by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily cash reconciliation of portfolios to the appropriate custodian bank or prime broker
  • Responsible for monthly account reconciliation of domestic and international equities and complex derivatives based portfolios to the appropriate custodian bank or broker
  • Maintains accounting for portfolios on SimCorp Dimension portfolio accounting system
  • Resolves trading and settlement issues by communicating with trading support personnel as well as counterparty contacts when needed
  • Prepares monthly and/or quarterly reports sent to clients
  • Analyze benchmark activity and market activity such as corporate actions, mergers and acquisitions
  • Manages requests of Marketing Group personnel while ensuring that client needs are handled on a timely basis
  • Assists with reporting enhancements and arising issues in the portfolio accounting systems
  • Supports Marketing Group with accounting related issues or reporting needs
  • Researches current market trends
  • Reads current literature to meet demands of an ever-changing industry
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to work with advanced mathematical concepts and operations
  • Familiarity with investment industry and financial instruments helpful
 
 

ASSOCIATE, SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Job Summary: First Quadrant in Pasadena is seeking a Senior Software Developer. Will work on a diverse set of products ranging from trade staging to accounting, settlement and compliance. Will work directly with other teams to design high quality, scalable applications.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the scalability and robustness of our software environment by using open source components, in multiple languages, to deliver application services in a high uptime environment. Reimagine existing projects in a modern infrastructure
  • Learn with evolving technology
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent technical work experience. Five or more years of professional development experience. Authorization to work in the United States
  • A proactive, solution-oriented outlook. Ability to find and correct issues before users see them
  • Experience with full-stack enterprise applications in Python or Java. Significant experience in object oriented design applied to building high quality, scalable applications that evolve over time. Experience in other object oriented languages is a plus
  • Ability to think ahead, applying analytical skills to proactively design for long term solutions. Implement such solutions in phases so that the application is constantly evolving to better fit its objective
  • Drive for an optimal solution while solving the problem as elegantly as possible within the project time constraints
  • Strong debugging ability
